Are Ragdoll Cats Affected by Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)?
I love breeding cats and I love science. Danu gives me an opportunity to nerd out on genetics and to have technical conversations with our veterinarian. But most of all I love Mother Nature’s hand in the breeding process. Whatever you call her, God, the Universe, or something else, for me, she always uniquely touches each of our blue eyed, fluffy Ragdoll kittens. This is my favorite part!

Colors: Seal, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Red, Cream, Flame, Tortie (a mix of two colors, such as seal and red or blue and cream)
Patterns:
Colorpoint: Body color is lighter than the points (ears, face, paws, and tail). Points are a solid, darker color.
Mitted: Similar to Colorpoint but with white paws and a white chin. A white stripe (blaze) may run up the nose. Usually, a white belly stripe extends from the chest to the tail.
TICA Registration and Why It Is Important
TICA registered breeders follow defined breed standards. This practice helps preserve the breed's quality and integrity, ensuring that their cats exhibit the expected physical and behavioral characteristics of their breed. Cookie, pictured here, was born all white with pink noses, a signature of the Ragdoll breed. As the kittens mature, each develop unique markings. Cookie has developed white ‘gloves’ or mitts and darker limbs and a dark nose. Those blue eyes, another hallmark of the Ragdoll breed.

Kitten Care: The First Few Days
Mushu and Jeremy have a great bond. Mushu Kitten, a blue mitted lynx was introduced to the Danu Family at 8 weeks old. As a young kitten, she often fell asleep on Jeremy’s shoulder while he was reading at night before bed. As Mushu matured, she became a very affectionate snuggler. She loved to lay on Jeremy’s tummy and offer nose touches and small licks on his nose. Ragdolls are the BEST!
